George E. Canny

George Canny, 84, passed away March 22, 2018 at Kavanaugh on 56th Street.

George was born January 24, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Lincoln High School. George served in the United States Army in Australia and North Carolina during the Korean War. He retired in 1991 from the U.S. Postal Service. George was a member of the Model A Car Club and still owned his Model A.

George is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Ruth; step-daughter, Tina (Jim) Wolff; two grandsons; sister, Carole Benz; four nephews; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn Canny and brother, Bob Canny.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with the memorial service at 10 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
