Matthew J. Steinbach
March 17, 2018
Matthew J. Steinbach, 27, of Ankeny passed away at home March 17, 2018. He was born May 27, 1990 in Des Moines to Patrick and Lori (Cooney) Steinbach.
Matthew graduated from Ankeny High School in 2008 and was currently employed at Mercer in their sales department. He will be remembered for his fierce intelligence, his wonderfully dry sense of humor, and his laid back demeanor. Matthew loved to debate and could speak volumes on any topic from politics to sports. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching and attending sporting events with his father. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan. Matthew had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his cats Midnight and Yellow. Above all else, Matthew was devoted to his family and friends. Emma and Marley were the loves of his life. Not even death could extinguish the light that they brought into his life.
He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Lori Steinbach; brother, Bradley (Kayt Moeller) Steinbach; wife, Emma; daughter, Marley; paternal grandmother, Helen Steinbach; maternal grandparents, Kennard and Barbara Cooney; friends, Adam Ware, Marissa Stevens and Ryan Brandt; goddaughter, Zaryna Ware; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, James R. Steinbach; and uncle, Robert D. Steinbach.
Funeral services will occur at 11 AM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Glendale Cemetery.
