Flora Sanford

At the age of 90, Flora passed away June 5, 2008 while a resident of The Gardens at Friendship Haven in Ft. Dodge. We are thankful that she did not suffer and the Lord took her quickly.
Flora, daughter of John E. and Heinkel and Martha Heinkel, was a wife and homemaker, and she worked outside of the home at several jobs in her younger years. Her joys and her passions were playing cards, listening to music, playing the piano and organ, gardening, baking, sewing, and handiwork. She also enjoyed Circle, which she was involved in where she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Sanford; her brother, Carold Heinkel and her parents, John and Martha Heinkel. She is survived by one sister, Leona Brattmiller of Ft. Dodge and one brother, Robert Heinkel of San Jose, CA.
Prior to moving into the Gardens, she had resided in Ellsworth, IA for over 30 years. She and Francis had also previously resided in Badger, IA for many years. Flora is the mother to: Janice (Bill) Chantland of Marshalltown, IA, Bill (Cheryl) Sanford of Ellsworth, IA, Diana Batcheller of Ava, MO, Nancy Sanford of Marceline, MO, Vicky (Barry) Anksorus of Ellsworth, and Warren (Valerie) Sanford of Burlington, IA. She also has several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held June 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Badger Lutheran Church. The family welcomes all to join in a brief celebration of life following the service. Interment will then take place for family members at Greenwood Cemetery in Ellsworth.
