Karen Smith

Karen Jane Smith, 64, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at her home. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, June 9, 2008 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines.
Karen was born March 2, 1944 in Chicago, Il. to Dorothy and John Zeis. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines and attended Northwest Missouri State. Karen was a homemaker. She enjoyed being with her family and loved caring for them. Karen enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing bridge and liked to read.
Karen is survived by her husband, Gordon; her mother, Dorothy Zeis; her brother, Robert (Diane) Zeis; her children, Charles (Lisa) Greth, Richard (Shellie) Greth and Michael (Kim) Greth; her step-sons, Alexander and Andrew Smith; her grandchildren, Lindsay, Zachary, Allison, Luke, Lauren and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her father, John, her brother, John and her sister, Jacqueline.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church or to the West Des Moines Public Library, children’s resources.
