Phyllis Wheeler died June 2, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial services will be 11 AM Thursday, June 5th 2008 at First Assembly of God on Merle Hay Road with visitation from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Lyon St.
Phyllis was born August 10, 1951 to Patricia and Ray Nelson in Des Moines. She grew up in Des Moines, graduating from Lincoln High School and had lived in Clive the last eight years. She was Vice President of Wesley Day Advertising and involved in card ministry at First Assembly of God where she was a member. Phyllis will be remembered as an inspiration to those battling cancer and as the proudest grandmother ever.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas of Clive; daughter, Lisa Stodden of Des Moines; son, Scott Wheeler of Ankeny and two grandchildren, Sarah and Emily.

Tom and family,
I am so incredibly sorry. I loved Phyllis very much. I felt like she was the sister that I never had. I felt an instant connection to her when I applied for the job at Wesley Day Advertising. She taught me so much, mentally and emotionally. She had the patient of a saint when I was learning my job. She was truly one of the best people I have ever known. I was so lucky to have had her for a friend. We will all miss her very much.

Tom & Family:
Please accept our deepest sympathy at this time. Bailey & Mary Lou shared the sad news with us yesterday. As one of your newer neighbors, we're sorry we didn't have a chance to get to know Phyllis because she is so well thought of by your friends in the neighborhood.
If we can be of any help at any time in the difficult days ahead, please just walk across the back yard and knock on the door, or call. We're here if we can do anything at all for you.
