Elizabeth R. Koopman, 96, died Friday, May 30, 2008 at Kavanagh on 56th St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born September 20, 1911 in Iowa City to Ernest and Belva Patterson. She worked for the State of Iowa in the payroll department for many years before her retirement in the early 60’s. Elizabeth was a member of Waukee Christian Church and had also been a member of the YMCA for over 30 years where she enjoyed taking water aerobic classes.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Vicki Farrell and Joan (Rich) Overholtzer; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Koopman; grandson, Steven Farrell; great-grandson, Brandon Murray; two brothers; and three sisters.

We are grieved to hear of Libbie's passing on. I,Phil, did not know her untill about the last 10 years. Her and Dorothy McSherry came to some family get togethers at my home and at our last "Hotka" reunion and again about 3 years ago in Des Moines. She was a belightful person to be near. My sister,Mary was much closer to her age and had known Libbie most of her life.
Her passing is a great loss to all.
