Dorothy Geisler

Dorothy Honnold Geisler, 97, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Valley View Village. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born December 7, 1910 in Griswold, Iowa the only child of A. E. “Ike” and Addie Honnold. She attended grades first through ninth in Osceola, Iowa, graduated from Boone High School and attended junior college. In September of 1930 she went to work for Iowa Des Moines National Bank (currently Wells Fargo). She retired in 1973 after 43 years of service. On September 15, 1942 Dorothy was united in marriage to Claude S. Geisler. God blessed Dorothy in so many wonderful ways, especially the Christian friends the Lord sent into her life. Dorothy was a member of First Federated Church for over 25 years, where she was active in various church groups, a member of the American Business Women’s Association for over 40 years, DEMO Chapter, president of WHO Sunday School Class and a member of Women Alone. She also did volunteer work at Veteran’s Hospital for 16 ½ years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her wonderful, loving husband and companion, Claude in December of 1964.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Federated Church or the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines.
