I was new to the Department of Revenue in the early 1990s. Don and I wrote a property tax booklet together. He was the property tax expert; I was the writer/editor. Although it is no longer printed, it is still on our Web site. I learned a lot from Don; he was a patient teacher and a kind man.

Nancy & family,
I always had the greatest respect for Don, his ready smile and temperment always gave me reassurance that everything was going to be OK, and it always seemed to be. He enjoyed life, family and friends and will be greatly missed. It was when he was in Linn County that I first met him, and through the years I never heard others put him down. That is a great attribute in a controversial career such as his. My thoughts and prayers are with you and may God help you through this trying time.

Nancy: Don was a true mentor to many Assessors. He was so supportive when I was a deputy and became an Assessor. I looked forward to him being at the ASA meetings after retirement because he was so relaxed and happy. God bless you in this difficult time. I know you have lots of great memories!!

To the Family of Don Reed.
I am truly saddened by the news of Don's passing. He was in the twilight of his career as I began mine in the assessment field. I really appreciated the help that he offered any time that I had a question. He was a great assest to the Department of Revenue!! My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Nancy: From the first time I became an Assessor to the day he retired, Don always made himself available to answer questions and give us his expertise. He will be remembered fondly for his patience and humor! You and your family have my deepest sympathy at this time.
