Daniel McCoun, 54, died, Friday, May 23, 2008 of heart failure. He was born August 1, 1953 to Daniel W. and Bonnie McCoun.
He worked 35 years as a steamfitter with Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local 33, and was just 48 days from retirement. Dan’s love for the outdoors was never ending. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an excellent marksman with his pistol. Among his favorite things were his gun and arrowhead collections. His favorite hobby was target shooting. Dan also enjoyed reading and above all spending time with his family.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Cody; daughters, Erica, Carrie and Lindsey; step-son, Jarret; granddaughter, Aleena; brothers, Mark and Kirk; and sister, Christy.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St SW, Altoona., burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Family will visit with friends from 3-5 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
