Edie Mendenhall – Kutchen left this life on May 21, 2008 to join her husband and daughter who both died in April. A visitation will be held 2-4 PM Saturday May 24, 2008 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Edie was born in Des Moines on October 23, 1942 to Lila and Hoyt Mendenhall. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines living on the southside for many years. Edie recently retired as a kitchen supervisor with Praire Meadows Race Track. Like her husband, she loved watching Nascar racing, swimming, going to the lake and spending time with her friends and family. Edie’s greatest joy was spending time with her two grandchildren, Baylie and Quin.
She is survived by her two grandchildren; sisters, Pat (Bud) Beaty, Nancy Mendenhall; brothers, Bob (Sylvia) Mendenhall, Lyle (Nancy) Mendenhall; Sister in laws, Nancy (Ken) Herndon, Carol Slater, Mary (Al) Chadwick, Carol (Bob) Harter; Son in law, Dave DeVries; Brother in laws, Ron (Cindy) Kutchen, Frank (Ginny) Kutchen, a host of nieces and nephews and several friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family for an education fund for Edie’s grandchildren.

So many losses in such a short time, my thoughts and prayers are with you all!!
May God grant you comfort and peace during this time in your lives!!
Everyone that worked with your mom would be there in a moment's notice. All you have to do is call and ask. Everyone here loved your mom so much and enjoyed spending time with you when she brought you to the movies and dinner after.
