Verna Nowell

Verna V. Nowell, 94, of Carlisle died in her home on Tuesday May 20, 2008. The grave side service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 23, 2008 at the Old Lutheran Church Cemetery, south of Coulter, IA. The visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 S.W. 9th Street.
Verna was born on May 7, 1914 to John and Myrtle Clarken in rural Vincent, Iowa. Verna married Glen G. Nowell on August 20, 1941 and they farmed in Chapin until 1978 when they moved to an acreage south of Des Moines.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Rich) Herrera; granddaughters, Theresa Cherry, Lisa (Matt) Clayton, Jeri Robinson; grandson, Randall (Melanie) Herrera; great-grandchildren, Mindy Hefner, Heidi Carpenter, Bo Carpenter, Sarah Cherry; great-great-grandchildren, Teagen and Trent Hefner and Jadyn Herrera. She is also survived by her brother Delmar (Evelyn) Clarken and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Tyrrell A. Robinson; husband, Glenn G. Nowell; three brothers and four sisters.
