Larry Thomas

Larry Thomas passed away peacefully at his home Monday, May 19, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Larry was born May 11, 1941to Gilbert and Nellie Thomas in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Army. Larry was a self employed contractor. He was a treasurer hunter at heart, always looking for the “Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine”.
Larry is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Lauretta Ann (Russ) Scovel of Denton, TX, Larry Shane (Virginia) Thomas and Steven Russell (Cindy) Thomas, both of Des Moines; step-children, Russ Gephart of Des Moines, Deborah (Mark) Riese of Anita, IA and Diann (Danny) Knight of Tingley, IA; sisters, Mary (Neal) Blanos of Crete, IL, Margaret Sales and Dillayna Thomas, both of Des Moines; brother, Gilbert Thomas of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
