Gayle L Peters, 74, passed away in Tucson, AZ on March 7, 2018. She was born May 6, 1943 in Flint, MI to Russell W & Velda N (Passino) Decker.
Gayle was known for her generous and loving personality. Gayle had a very strong faith and her church community, bible study, and daily devotionals were very important to her. She loved her family deeply and spent much of her life traveling to see family and friends scattered across the country and in Europe. Other favorite pastimes included reading, shopping, scrapbooking, traveling, and her collections of teddy bears, beanie babies, and thimbles.
Gayle was a counselor at Scott Community College for over 25 years, where she held a number of leadership positions in her professional organizations. She retired in 2001.
Gayle is survived by her husband, Larry Peters; their children, Kim (Tom) Coleman of Des Moines, IA, Steve (Greta) Hise of Tucson, AZ, Allan (Jeannette) Hise of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, Brian Peters of Bettendorf, IA, and Chris Peters of Loveland, CO; their grandchildren, Gretchen, Charlie, Sam and Grace Coleman, and Savanna Hise; and many other loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dennis Decker and her beloved aunt Vera Kilmer.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 13th at 11:00 AM at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy, West Des Moines, with a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior.
Per Gayle’s wishes she will be cremated following the service and private burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, the Lutheran Church of Hope, or Catalina Foothills Church 2150 East Orange Grove Road, Tucson, AZ 85718.

I was so saddened to hear about Gayle's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of serving with her at Bettendorf Presbyterian Church. Larry, we would love to see you again. My prayers are with you and your family.

Larry and family, Gayle was such a fun and caring person. She always had a way to make everyone smile. She will be truly missed, She is resting now in the arms of the Lord

I served on the board of the Ia. Comm. College Student Services Association with Gayle.
I retired from DMACC in '03
Gayle always put others first and was a very thoughtful caring person. The world is a better place because of her and her activities. My condolences to all of you.
