Larry Goemaat
March 06, 2018
Larry Goemaat, 60, passed away on March 6, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born in Oskaloosa, on August 9, 1957 to Alvin and Freda Goemaat.
Larry enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, whether it be fishing, hunting, or traveling. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren whom Papa loved spoiling like crazy. One of his favorite past times was solving the world’s problems with his buddies. Larry retired from UPS after 37 years of faithful service. He treasured the many friendships he made throughout that time, including not only his co-workers but also the people along his delivery route.
Larry is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife, Rammie; children Brian Goemaat, Ashley (Travis) Irvin, Riki (Tim) Kadel and Randi (Micheal) Cole. Grandchildren; Carder, Calvin, Reese, Cora, Ronan, Callahan, Barron and Cooper. His mother, Freda; sisters, Connie Vander Waal and Nancy (Ron) Vos. Along with other loving relatives and many special friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Goemaat.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton, Iowa.

Though we hadn't stayed in touch over the years as much as we could have, memories of the great times Jack, you and I had, working on cars, listening to Montrose and others, will always be with me. Your quick smile will always be remembered. Unfortunately, I can't make it to the service as we have to be out of town, but just know we have your family in our thoughts and prayers.

As a kid growing up, I'll always remember visiting & playing with my "little cousin Larry", along with his sisters at uncle Alvin & aunt Freda's. What a nice man, with a "friendly soul".

Larry was one of my all-time favorite people. We solved a lot of the worlds problems over the years while seating on a John Deere gator and tipping a few beers. He will be missed by many.

God rest your soul Larry and may your spirit of fun and living reside forever, with all of whom and what you loved...A man of few words, great caring and kindness, a smile with all your miles, ..guessing the heavens of Amazon have delivery issues above, and you'll figure out the logistics..."Peace to all of your love, and grace to you, for sharing your life with all of us"......
