Jason Dean Gates, 48, passed away on March 4, 2018, in Alcofiao, Portugal. He was born December 13, 1969, in Des Moines, to Frederick and Mary Gates.
Jason loved his job working internationally in the oil industry as well as traveling. He enjoyed fishing and was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Jason is survived by his mom, Mary; siblings, Fred (Sue) Gates, Jr., Roxanne (Bob) Botkin, and Suzanne Gates; nieces and nephews, Cody Staley, Austin Staley and Amber Staley; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Gates, Sr.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Jason.

I was saddened to hear about Jason's passing. I worked with Jason at Hunt and was always impressed with his dedication and professionalism. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family for their loss, Jason will be missed.
