James Huston

James “Jim” S. Huston, 75, passed away May 17, 2008 at Kavanagh House on 56th Street. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a city of Des Moines employee for 33 years, retiring in 1989. He was active in sports, and had played basketball for Dowling High School, boxed Golden Gloves and was a runner up three out of five years. Jim pitched “semi-pro” for the farm team of Phil Phillies with several no-hitters.
Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years on May 19, 2008, Beverly; daughters, Linda (Jay) Bennett and Lorri Huston; son, Dennis (Connie) Huston; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Arleta Huston; brothers, John E. Huston, Kenneth P. Huston and his daughter, Kathy Huston.
