George Skidmore

George R. Skidmore, 92, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at the Chariton Cemetery in Chariton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
George was born August 4, 1915, the youngest of 10 children. He served in the U.S. Army as a nurse’s aide during WWII. George worked as a nurse’s aide for the Veteran’s Hospital in Des Moines for 35 years before his retirement. He moved to the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown in 1986. George was a long time member of the Moose Lodge, Eagle Lodge, VFW and Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
George is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
