Betty died Sunday, May 11th 2008 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 14th at The Basilica of St. John in Des Moines, burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM Tuesday with the family present from 5-8 PM at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Betty was born September 21, 1918 in Des Moines and was a life long resident. She met the love of her life Woody, and they were married for over 50 years. When Betty heard music she loved to dance no matter where she was and always enjoyed telling jokes and was a great story teller. She retired from the DSM Public School Lunch Program and was a member of the AMVETS Post #2 and The Basilica of St. John.
She is survived by a Daughter, Sandra & Bob Nellis of Houston, TX and their children, Robert III, Colleen and Melissa; Son, Steven & Cheryl Duff of Swansea, IL and their children, Kenneth and Thomas; Son, Joe & Christy Duff of Des Moines and his children, Emily and Ryan and 4 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Basilica of St. John’s Building Fund.
