Richard W. Peer II, age 59, died peacefully at his home on Friday, May 9, 2008 of heart failure. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Rick was born in Jefferson, Iowa on April 18, 1949 to Richard W. and Shirley Wilson Peer. Rick enjoyed cooking, cribbage, cars, baseball, history, and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. Rick served in the United States Navy from 1968 – 1972.
Rick is survived by his wife Nancy and two sons and their families: Richard W. Peer III and wife Venita and their children: Trisha, Cassie, and Richard IV; Andrew J. Peer and wife Alissa and their children Alivia and Drew all of Des Moines. Also sisters Toni Clapsaddle of Algona, IA and Jackie Hill of Florida; and brother Barry Peer and wife Kristy of Minburn, IA; his mother-in-law Leota Schnoor; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.

Uncle Rick was always good to me he always cooked good food held me when I was a baby he always called me and made sure I was always was in the house at night time and super was always cooked home food off of Pentrist at five o clock food was done and veggies were there too on the table and uncle Rick always invited grand paw Kerry and grand maw Toni and amber appland and Jason Becker Barry peer and kristy peer Lynn dupre over for super when I flew into desmoines air point Rick and Nancy peer drove into the front of the air port came in and I saw them and they said welcome to Iowa for the frist time seince you lived in Louisiana
