March 06, 2018
William LeRoy Scholz, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 6, 2018, at Mitchell Village Care Center, due to complications from cancer. He was born on September 9, 1939, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Oliver and Florence (Morris) Scholz. William was a graduate of Parsons College and the University of Iowa, and he remained an avid Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. William was very proud of his work with Iowa Workforce, helping underprivileged and unemployed people find work for over 19 years. He was most recently employed by O’Reilly’s from where he fully retired. William was a very caring and loving person with a great sense of humor. He was always telling jokes. His greatest loves in life were his family and his church, where he was a very active member. William enjoyed tennis, traveling, and above all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Diane; children, Jessica Scholz, Jennifer Nelson and Scott Scholz; brother, Robert Scholz; cousins, Dixie Unangst and Molly George; and other extended family.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Florence Scholz and his aunt, Mable Whiteol.

Jessica,
you and your family will be in my prayers. I know how difficult it is to say goodbye to those we love. But thankfully we have the assurance that we will be with them again one day. I pray God will comfort you in the meantime.
