Larry L. Burk, 79, passed away March 4, 2018 at the Carlisle Care Center.
Larry was born February 28, 1939 in Des Moines to Elmer and Bonnie (Sanders) Burk. He was the baby of 13 children. Larry most recently worked for the Southside Walmart, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed fishing, camping and being with his family. Larry loved going to the races and having season tickets to the Iowa Speedway. For 15 years, he and his wife Shirley spent weekends on the farm in Lorimor, Iowa with close friends, Dottie Jo and Stan.
Larry is survived by his step-children, Christy (Dave) Cannon and Marty (Christina) Taylor; special nephew, Danny (Ranee) Burke; grandchildren, Logan, Dakota (Cassi), Shauna, Megan, Jon, Kellie (LaChance), Summer (Austin), Paige and Jaclyn; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Noah, Lishaun, Shaelyn, Phinn, Christopher, Mariah, Odin, Iris and Malakai; brother-in-law, Bruce (Freda) Rowe; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 siblings; and his beloved wife, Shirley.
The family will greet friends Friday, March 9, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Larry will be laid to rest at 3 p.m. Friday at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Carlisle Care Center or the Mutiple Sclerosis Society in loving memory of Larry.

I am Larry's first wife Sally. We were married for a short time in the 60's. I am sad to know that Larry has passed away. Larry had a good life and was a good guy. Larry, rest in peace. You can now be with Shirley.
