Stacy Bredbeck

A ray of sunshine and a bundle of energy passed away March 3, 2018 after continued health issues. Stacy Diana Bredbeck, 57, led a full and robust life. A small memorial service was held the following day for family and close friends. A celebration of Stacy’s life will be held this summer.
Stacy was born July 27, 1960 to Lloyd and Marilyn Peterson in Des Moines, IA. She graduated with honors from Roosevelt High School in 1978 and the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. Stacy married her college sweetheart in 1983 and the couple moved to central Illinois. In 1985 they moved to Portland, OR where their son, Johnathan was born and back to Des Moines in 1993. Stacy worked as an editor for a weekly paper while in Portland and advanced her career as Vice President for a health care company overseeing many clinics. In Des Moines, Stacy was a stay at home Mom to her three boys and very active in PTA at Windsor Elementary serving as PTA President and also in that role for the citywide PTA. In 2006 she began a much-loved career with Iowa Methodist Hospital in the Spiritual Care area.
Stacy was the kind of person who always went above and beyond in everything she did and in how she cared for others. She was far-sighted, thought of every detail, and was full of compassionate and well-placed advice. Stacy was devoted to her family delighting in each person’s unique qualities. She enjoyed music, journaling, travel and was a voracious reader. She was also a renowned party planner and loved entertaining.
Known for her witty, wry, and sometimes mischievous sense of humor, she lightened every situation while offering perceptive insights and guidance. She was tireless in her service to others and was a treasured friend, sister, and mother.
It is with heartfelt gratitude that her family acknowledges the medical team at Iowa Methodist Hospital and the loving care and support given by Eric Johnson, friends, and staff of the Sprititual Care department.
She is survived by her parents, Lloyd and Marilyn Peterson; husband, Daniel Bredbeck; sons, Jonathan (Samantha), Michael and Connor Bredbeck; her sisters, Heidi (Pat) Baschnagel and Julie Peterson; and her extended family members.

Dear Mr and Mrs. Peterson, Heidi and Julie, I am so very sorry to hear of your tremendous loss. I remember all of us kid's playing, coming and going as kid's do !! Heidi and Julie,so sorry for the loss of your sister, Mrs.Peterson, we had such a nice visit not very long ago at Hy-Vee, you are the same peaceful, gentle and kind mom you always were. Mr. Peterson, a few years ago we saw each other at an Eye Glasses Store at the Mall, I enjoyed meeting your grandson and the nice visit we had. I am praying for all of you and will continue to hold you up in prayer. God Bless and Keep you all, Karen I would love to attend Stacy's celebration of life this summer.

It was always a pleasure knowing Stacey. She took great care of us newbie chaplains at UPH. Hers will be tough shoes to fill!

I enjoyed Staceys friendship even though I hadnt known her long. She sent me a personal note when a good friend died unexpectly. She was sensitive to others grieving and always put herself after others needs. I am reply sorry for your loss.
