Marilyn Louise Brown, 89, passed away March 3, 2018 at Taylor House. Visitation will be held Monday, March 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, and the funeral service on Tuesday, March 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, 1240 66th St in Windsor Heights, IA with burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Marilyn was born September 24, 1928 to Daniel and Edna (Paetow) Wurm in Gross Pointe Park, MI. She graduated from Capital University in Columbus, OH with her Bachelor’s in Public School Music Education in 1950. Marilyn taught for three years until her college sweetheart, Edward Brown graduated from seminary. The couple married on August 29, 1952 and served together in New Lebanon, OH and Peace Lutheran Church in Southfield, MI. Marilyn taught catechetical classes, and was the director of the choir and bell choir. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting. Upon their retirement, Marilyn and Ed visited multiple foreign countries and retired in Des Moines.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Brown; daughter, Candace (Marvin) McNabb; son, Tim (Lori) Brown; grandchildren, Rachel (Benjamin) Cerra, Rebecca (Christopher Sembower) Schumacher, Corey McNabb, Christine and Erica Brown; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Leah Cerra with Margaret Louise on the way.

Dearest Ed and family,
I am so shocked and sad that youve lost a lovely, lovely lady. I apologize for not being able to attend her visitation, I wish I could give Ed a big hug for being the loving husband he was to her. Bless her.

My condolences to the family of Marilyn Louise Brown. I know this is a sad time for you, cause the hurt and pain that comes with losing a loved one can sometimes feel so unbearable that we might feel we can't go on.
