Robert "Bear" Nicholson

Robert “Bear” Nicholson of Mingo – formerly of Des Moines/Bondurant, passed away March 1, 2018 after a courageous battle of Alzheimer’s.
Robert was born December 22, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Harry and Lucille Nicholson. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as an airplane mechanic. Robert was a truck driver for various employers over the years while also being a drag racer both on the street and strip. After retirement he enjoyed street rodding with his ole’ geezer group and socializing while listening to his Rock & Roll.
The Bear is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Nicholson; daughter, Patty (Mike) Briggs; grandchildren, Mikey Briggs and Madison Briggs (Connor Meislahn) and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Lucy Nicholson.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., March 10, 2018 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona.

Judy, we are so very so sorry to hear about Bear's passing. Our prayers go out to you and your family not this very difficult time. I can't imagine what you are going through, my only hope for you is that each day will get easier as you remember the wonderful times you both shared together.
