Kathleen "Kathie" Gibson
February 21, 2018
Kathleen “Kathie” Gibson, 55, passed away on February 21, 2018. She was born June 24, 1962, in Des Moines, to Jack and Gloria Baumgartner.
Kathie enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. A highlight of hers was a recent trip to Alaska where she got to experience nature and whale watching. Kathie also loved animals, especially her granddog, Stella, and would spoil her any chance she had.
Kathie had a zest for life and a contagious smile that would light up the room. Her strength and positivity were very admirable. Above all else, Kathie loved her family and was excited about being a grandma. She was proud of her boys and loved watching them grow up. Kathie will always be remembered for her love of family, her hard work, and ability to always persevere.
Kathie was preceded in death by her grandparents, and mother, Gloria Baumgartner. She is survived by her father, Jack (Sharon) Baumgartner; sons, Jake (Mikel) Owen and Kenneth (Chelsey) Gibson; siblings, Karen Baumgartner, John (Laura) Baumgartner, and many nieces and nephews. Kathie is now the beautiful Guardian Angel of her soon to arrive granddaughter, Hadley Gibson.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1-3 p.m.
