Harper Durant
February 18, 2018
Harper Jo Durant, 4 years & 6 months old, was born on August 15, 2013, in Des Moines, Iowa to Krystal Booker and Kevin Durant. She was the light of her family and everyone who met her fell in love with her big smile. She brightened every room she entered and had endless energy. Harper was a spitfire, but also so loving and sweet. She loved all the Disney Princesses and had her dreams come true when Make-A-Wish Foundation, with contributions from the physicians at Encompass Medical Group in Independence, MO, took her and her family to Walt Disney World in Florida, returning to Iowa on Valentine’s Day, 2018. Harper loved gymnastics, dancing and singing. She liked bam bam ball and anything outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Harper was SMART, BRAVE, and STRONG. She was “Momma’s Little Warrior Princess” and will be forever missed by everyone who loved her.
Harper was a warrior and bravely fought her battle against liver cancer until the very end. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2018, surrounded by her family.
All services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018. Cremation will occur after services.
Left to cherish her memory are her mommy, Krystal Booker (David Thompson); daddy, Kevin Durant; big brothers, Pierson Booker and Carson Dudley; little brother, Samuel Durant; big sister, Haylee Booker; great-grandma, Jan Gregory; and numerous loving grandparents.
She is greeted in Heaven by her grandma, Laura Zumbrunnen and her great-grandma, Judy McDowell.
Harper’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Blank Children’s Hospital staff for creating her a home away from home. They are also thankful for La Bonheur Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, both in Memphis, TN, her school family at Mckee Elementary and friends at Shining Stars Daycare, and members of Grace Church for their endless love and support through the difficult times.
Contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Harper.

Harper was an angel on earth. She had such a big impact on Mia in school. Mia was her protector and Harper was her light. Harper was so loving and sweet and she touched everyone she met. Krystal your strength as a mother is inspiring and my prayers are with you all. Mia said she loves Harper and she will always be her best friend. Thinking of you all.
