Anthony “Tony” Punelli, 66, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Tony was born August 12, 1951, to Dominic and Santina Punelli in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was a hard worker and was dedicated to his business on the Southside of Des Moines for 30 years. Tony was generous with his time and advice. He was honest and very well-liked by everyone he met. In between trips to Vegas, he enjoyed fishing and never missed Tuesday Night Cards with his buddies.
Tony is survived by his wife, Linda Punelli; his children, Anthony Punelli (Jane), Christina Lederman (Jake), Dominic Punelli (Kelli), and Jessica Ekman (Tony); 8 grandchildren, Nina and Anthony Punelli, Meyer, Jack and Abby Lederman, Dominic Jr., Rocco and Roman Punelli; 2 great-granddaughters, Nataleah and Navaeh; his mother, Santina Punelli; his sisters, Raffaela Blomberg (Robert) and Francie Bishop (Phil); and his little dog Vinny.
He was preceded in death by his father Dominic Punelli; and his grandparents Raffaela Punelli, Charles Punelli, Francesca Romeo and Antonio Romeo.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service, Monday, February 19th, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 20th, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.

Tonys memory will be your treasure. I too was a childhood neighbor of Tonys on Lacona. I moved away 50 years ago, but remember one day we saw Tonys mom chasing him, outside around the house with a broom. All we knew was that Tonys was in trouble for something. But sounds to me that Tony turned out to be a very special person. What a blessing he was to you all. My condolences.

So sorry to hear this. I've known Tony since we were kids. We were neighbors on Lacona Ave. Tony was a great guy and was a trusted business owner. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Mom and dad send their condolences as well. Our prayers are with your family at this time of grief.

My heartfelt sympathy to the family on the loss of Tony. He was a wonderful man and helped so many of our family members and others, with gentle kindness. Tony always had a smile on his face. You could always count on him to help you out whenever you needed work done immediately. He truly was a unique and special man and a pleasure to know him. Prayers are with you and your family.

Tony was the kindest most soft spoken man ever , his heart was huge ,he gave so much to are son Mikey, who loves him like a 2nd dad
