Richard Jury

Richard Jury, 90 passed away on February 11, 2018 at Manor Care in West Des Moines, IA. Services are pending and will be private for the family. Richard was born December 28, 1927 in Des Moines where he lived most of his life. He attended East High School where he met his sweetheart and future wife, Shirley. He was employed by Meredith Corporation for much of his working career

Richard had a love of music throughout his life and was an avid trumpet player in his younger years. He and Shirley enjoyed taking ballroom dancing lessons. Richard continued to listen to music for hours at Manor Care, while entertaining himself and the staff. He also enjoyed fishing the rivers of Iowa with his father when he had a free day from work. Richard had the gift of a great sense of humor and telling stories from his long life. He and Shirley enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley of 71 years. Richard is survived by his two daughters, Annette (Jesse) Tom of Indianola, IA and Pamela Jury of West Des Moines, IA; two sons, Carey (Ann) Jury of Clive, IA and Patrick (Cathy) Jury of West Des Moines, IA; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Jury of Des Moines, IA.
