Sherann Ice
February 10, 2018
Sherann was born on May 26, 1979, two months early, to Ann Ice in Minnesota. She lived with her mom until age 11, when her mom was killed by a drunk driver. Sherann was then raised by the state.
As a young adult, Sherann moved around, always trying to find a place. Then in January of 2006, Sherann was placed at ICIW, where she met her best friend and life partner, Amy Shull. Upon leaving ICIW, Sherann came to Des Moines to be with Amy and help raise their daughter, Leia Shull Shebe of Mississippi. Sherann was happy to have a family. Then three grandchildren also came along – Gara and Mella Rose, who were born on Sherann’s birthday, and Yama. She loved her grandkids.
Sherann celebrated five years clean and sober on January 1, 2018, and will have an AA meeting in her honor this Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 6 p.m., at the Wesley House on Drake Campus, 28th & University. Everyone is welcome to come.
Sherann was Native Alaskan and was very proud of her heritage. She finally had all her dreams come true as she was met in Heaven by her mom, mother-in-law, Ms. Shull, brother-in-law, Mike Shull, and daughter, Ashlea.

No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of our Lord. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult days...keeping you all here in my heart and prayers...gwen gratton
