Raymond B. Shepherd

Raymond Burton Shepherd was born December 14, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Elmer Burton and Darlene Shepherd. After graduating high school, Raymond enlisted in the United States Army. He was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, self-employed in the retail business.

Raymond passed away in his own home while under the care of UnityPoint Hospice on the morning of Friday, February 9, 2018. He was 83 years old.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Nancy Shepherd and Laura Hadley; grandchildren, Kathren (Larry) Armstrong, Sandra Hadley, Lisa Booker, Jenny Rubio, Madonna Shepherd and Anthony Shepherd; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby (Benji) Shepherd and Jimmy Shepherd; and sister, Norma Jean (Toad) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn Rose Shepherd; daughter, Kathren Shepherd; and brother, Paul Shepherd.

In honor of Raymond’s wishes, no services will be held.
