Shirley Couchman (Sowles), 92, passed away February 5, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Shirley was born October 29, 1925 in Monroe, Iowa. She attended North High School. Shirley worked for Colonial Bakery for several years, was a Shaklee Distributor and later worked as a grocery store demonstrator. She was a member of the Indianola Assembly of God Church.
Shirley is survived by her children, Jackie Stevenson, Katie (Bob) Tracy, Jim (Sharon) Lewis, Jeff (Dede) Lewis and Twyla (Steve) Smith; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Garnet Hunt; father, Lewis Couchman; daughter, Judy; son, Danny; granddaughter, Crystal; grandsons, Dale and Dennis; great-grandson, Casey; two brothers; and a sister.
The family will greet friends Monday, February 12, 2018 from 10 am to 12 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Shirley will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

I was so sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She was such a strong women. She lived a long life. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.

WOW-what a loss this world is feeling right now--one of the most stubborn-matter of fact -tell you where to put it persons
I have ever had the greatest pleasures to have ever known---peace and comfort to all who loved Shirley--she was special and taught us all lessons or at least tried too!
