James “Jim” Rossow, age 68, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018. Jim was born on January 25, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jim graduated from North High class of ‘68 and went on to University of Northern Iowa, and later transferred to Iowa State where he graduated in ‘72. Jim was a member of SAE fraternity. Jim was a perfectionist who took great pride in his work as a carpenter and owned his own business. Everyone knew Jim as an avid sports fan enjoying the Bears and especially the Cubs. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 ½ years, Sandy; children, Tara Rossow, Jaime (Craig Lonneman) Fisher, Bill (Tracy) Hutchinson, Paula (DeAnna) Comstock, and Bruce (Lorre) Hutchinson; grandchildren, Nate Fisher, Cade Fisher, Nic (Brett) Hutchinson, Whitnie Hutchinson, Kolby Hutchinson, and Michael Dalton; and a host of extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Dena Rossow; daughter, Lisa Rossow; sister, Vicky Jacobs; and his beloved dog, Tar.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 also at the funeral home followed by burial at Oralabor Cemetery.

Sorry for your loss. Worked around Jim back in the 70s when he was a trim carpenter for Jack Cline. Always happy to have a conversation and was a great guy.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Jim was an amazing guy and I think what I'll remember most about him was how he would always seem to get the last word, but barely audible and if you did catch it, you'd be laughing your butt off. I know he will live on in all of you. Special hugs to Sandy. Love and miss you guys.
