Service Details

Steven Joseph Giannoble, son of Vincent and Helen “Jeri” Giannoble, was born September 28, 1961.

He received his education in Des Moines schools and was a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School and the University of Northern Iowa. His lifelong passion for live theater began with stage management and technical theater activities in high school and led to those same positions in opera, musical theater, and plays in university and community companies, amusement parks, and professional productions across the United States and onboard cruise ships.

His love of animals manifested in his work with veterinary clinics as well as raising and loving his award-winning show cats.

Steven dedicated years to helping area youth, working as technical advisor to the theater program at Abraham Lincoln High School. He also donated a lighting system to the school’s auditorium in memory of his parents, who were both alumni.

Steven passed away on January 27, 2018 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After a long battle with end stage liver failure (NASH) and months of complications following a transplant, he chose to transition to hospice care. At the age of 56, he slipped away painlessly with loved ones at his side.

Steven is survived by his husband, John Ravet, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Teryl and Randall Byers; and his niece and nephews, Kelsie, Tate and Kurt. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Steven will be long remembered for his wit, humor, and exceptional generosity.

In keeping with his final wishes, a Celebration of Life gathering is being planned for Spring 2018.
