Ellen Sparks, 91, died, Saturday, April 26, 2008 of heart failure at Mercy Hospice Johnston. Ellen was born on August 24, 1916 in Bethlehem, Iowa.
Ellen is survived by her daughters, Judy Ross, Carol Carlson (Jac), Linda Bloomquist (Doug) and Shirley Sparks; sisters, Lelah Albaugh, Caroline Manly, Katherine Harris and June Cubbage; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren Ellen was preceded in death by husband, Julius Sparks; son, Bob Sparks and daughter, Joyce Sparks.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice Johnston or Waukee Baptist Church.

Family of Miss Ellen,
It has been a special blessing to us to know and attend church with Miss Ellen. Her sweet and kind disposition has always been such an inspiration to us. She always had a smile on her face.
What a privilege to see a family that cared so tenderly for their mom. She loved her family and always spoke so highly of all of you. You always seem to have such a good time when you were together.
It was our joy and blessing to attend church with her. Thank you for sharing her with us. She will be greatly missed by her church family.
We pray that your sweet memories of happier times will bring peace and comfort to you, knowing that you took care of Miss Ellen to the very end. We are sure she is rejoicing now with the Father and others.
