Jesse L. White

January 25, 2018

Service Details

Jesse Louie White was born February 18, 1928, in Beaver, Iowa, to Robert and Alice “Colen” White. He was one of a kind; a man with upstanding values who gave of himself tirelessly. He loved planes and achieved his pilot’s license when he was 18 years old and continued to love flying for 70 years. Jesse was a lifetime member of the Masons and the Za Ga Zig Shrine. He proudly was a Flying Fez, voluntarily flying sick children to the Shriner’s Hospital to receive care. He was a member of the Confederate Air Force and a founding member of the Northfield Flying Club. Jesse was employed by Iowa Power and Light in his working years. He discovered the joys of traveling with his family, which he continued to enjoy into retirement, visiting all 50 states. He adored his family above all else and was always there for them. His greatest joy was spoiling his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

Jesse passed away peacefully Thursday, January 25, 2018, while under the care of Mercy Hospice in Johnston at the age of 89.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Doris White; daughter, Kathy Jo White; parents, Robert and Colen White; siblings, Alice Bell, William White and LaRita Hanneman; and his long-time friend, Ruby Leaming.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lynda Wilson, Carol (Robert) Miller and Karla (Terry) Edgar, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his sister, Flossie Rexroat.
