James Hill

James Arthur Hill passed away peacefully at his home in Ankeny, Iowa on January 24, 2018 at the age of 67. James was born in Colorado City, Texas on August 5, 1950.
He attended Colorado City schools until joining the military in 1967. He served in both the Marine Corps and the Army, including a tour in Vietnam, and received an honorable discharge in 1972. James worked in the oilfield for many years, eventually retiring to Iowa in 2008.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James O. and Emma Lee; a brother, Kenny; a daughter, Tesa; and a grandson, Corporal Clinton Coy Blodgett.
James was adventurous and courageous! He loved fishing, camping, and all sports, but especially baseball.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 35 years, Vivian; four siblings, Linda (Donnie) Compton and Mark of Snyder, Ricky of Cedar Hill, and Marsha (Oscar) Hill-Sanchez of Colorado City; two sons, James of California and Randall (Jennifer) of Iowa, stepchildren Jim (Whitney) of Waxahachie and Jennifer (Clint) of Grand Prairie; thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Colorado City this summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Central Iowa at HCI Care Services.
