Sandra Jean Mericle

Growing up in the 40s, Sandy lived in houses built by her father and wore clothes sewn by her mother. After high school, she married and moved to New York City.
There she worked in the theater and had her first child. Making their way back to Iowa, her little family settled in Des Moines, and another child was born.
As a young woman in the 70s, Sandy got an entry-level job at an insurance company. She used her skill set to climb the corporate ladder, rung by rung, until she reached Senior Vice President.
As small as she was, she had a big presence. A lover of black dogs and devoted to her family, she lived a simple life.
Sandy is survived by her husband, sister, daughter, granddaughter and two great-grandsons.

Sandy hired me to work as the Purchasing Manager. From day one we had a special connection. I respected her and we both were little spitfires. She taught me many things in my business and personal life. I will always cherish our relationship and never forget all the wonderful times we had. My great sympathies to her family. She was an amazing lady!
