Dear Jim & Family:
We just learned that your childhood sweetheart Alice passed away. Everyone loved Alice and she was one of prettiest and nicest girls ever to walk the halls of Dear Old North High. Betty has many fond memories of Alice and being on the North High Drill Team. All of those fond memories we will remember forever. Our thoughts and prayers will be you in the days that lie ahead. One thing for sure, Alice is now in heaven and smiling down upon us all.

Alice was a natural leader. She created and led a 50-girl drill team at North High when no other drill teams even existed in Iowa. Her teachers saw her talent and sponsored the team, which lived on at North for several years after Alice had graduated.
She was also a talented cook at a young age. I remember that when most of us newlyweds were just learning how to cook, Alice once brought fried chicken and a beautiful lemon merengue pie to our potluck. Everything was made from scratch in those days, and it was a big deal. We were all in awe. Some of us joked with her that our husbands wanted her to teach cooking lessons.
God bless you, Jim, and your whole family for taking such excellent care of Alice when she needed you.
