Niavh Anne Hyatt
January 10, 2018
“Always believe in yourself. Do this and no matter where you are, you will have nothing to fear.” - Baron Humbert von Gikkingen, from The Cat Returns
Niavh Anne Hyatt, age 14, passed away on January 10, 2018 from pediatric brain and spine cancer. Now her spirit dances on rainbows and waves of the great seas, free from pain.
Niavh comes from an Old Irish, or Gaelic, name meaning “radiant” or “bright”. To all that knew her, she was the full embodiment of her name. She was an inspiration. A treasure to all who loved her. A truly beautiful soul through and through, touching people all over the globe. A sensitive, true heart who felt so deeply for others. Even though she suffered so greatly the last six years of her life, she still lived and loved to the fullest of her ability.
Incredibly gifted creatively, Niavh loved making all forms of artwork and brought to life an amazing, colorful world filled with magical loving creatures. Much of her inspiration came from nature. She loved being outside and collecting natural ephemera. She had a household full to the brim with animal friends to snuggle. In addition, she surrounded herself with collections of tiny kingdoms. Niavh also loved spending time with her little sister Keira and dear friends, playing video games, watching Studio Ghibli films, and visiting school when she was able.
Niavh is survived by her parents, Heather and Keith Hyatt, as well as little sister Keira of West Des Moines, IA. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Sylvia and Brad Havlin of West Liberty, IA, her paternal grandparents Becky and Ray Forester of Rosston, AR and Jenny and Rick Hyatt of Chidester, AR, as well as several loving uncles, aunts and cousins, great-aunts and uncles, and her maternal great-grandfather.
A Celebration of Life outdoor gathering will be held at a later time to honor Niavh’s love of nature.
