Douglas Gandy, age 60, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. Doug was born on November 15, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Doug proudly served his country as an Army veteran. He loved cats, motorcycles and tinkering with things. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; children, Dawn (Will) Dale and Brandy (T.J.) Clark; siblings, Mike (Bev) Gandy, Diane (John) Wilcox, Deedie (Jim) Hildreth and Tim (Tammy) Gandy; uncle, Gary (Sandy) Lorton; mother-in-law, Ina Williams; and a host of loving extended family & friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Shirley Gandy; daughter, Amber Gandy; grandparents; father-in-law, Gilbert Williams.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Vandalia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Doug.

Mike, Diane, Deedie, and family - I am so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Although we haven't seen one another in many years, I still fondly remember my neighborhood friends. I'll always remember Doug as a very kind person. May you find peace during this difficult time.

Doug, you will be so missed, but glad you didn't suffer with this for a long time. Cindy will survive as she has many family members that love her dearly!! Rest in peace Doug!
