Donald Sterling Batye, 60, of Des Moines, Iowa, entered into eternal peace on December 30th, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Donald was born on November 15, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in 1976. His childhood friends say he was known as the brains of his class; also remembered for jokingly being known as a “walking encyclopedia”.

Donald worked in warehouse handling his entire life, mainly operating forklifts and machine operations. He was an easy going man who was dedicated to making sure that those he loved were taken care of first and then he worried about himself last. In his spare time he enjoyed playing video games, watching movies, and playing board/card games with friends. He was a master at Chess and Cribbage.

Don will be greatly missed by his two children Crystal and Scott (Megan), his sisters and brother Renee Oliphant, Robyn Huxford and Jondi Batye, as well as his nine grandchildren. His parents, John Sterling Batye and Sharon Lee (Power) Batye preceded him in death.

He will be laid to rest in a private family burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
