Dawn E. Burke

Dawn E. Burke, 77, died, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Dawn was born on October 31, 1930 in Titonka, IA.
Dawn graduated from Titonka High School and completed courses at Simpson College. She then went on to own her own ceramic studio and restaurant.
She is survived by daughters, Shelley (Wes) Borlin of Ankeny, IA and Susan (Jon) Kirkhart of Johnston, IA; son, Jeffrey Nelson of Burlington, WI; grandchildren, Joy (Matt) Buckingham, Wendy Borlin, Chris (Darci) Borlin, Steve Borlin, Nichole and Nicholas Kirkhart, and Jeffrey and Elizabeth Nelson; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Ramirez and Janice Ward; daughter, Laurie Hood and son-in-law Barry Hood.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice or the Animal Rescue League.
