Donna Mae Brown

Donna Mae Brown, 72, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center with her family by her side.

Donna was born March 19, 1945, in Chariton, Iowa, to George and Bernice Chapman. She loved her family above all else. Donna married Eugene Brown and faithfully followed him around the world as he served his country in the U. S. Army. Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing, embroidery, and scratching lotto tickets. She also liked cooking, gardening, photography, and all types of puzzles that she called her “brain teasers.”

Donna is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gene, children, Steve Brown, Bob (Tara) Brown, Jo Ann Brown, and Dora (Scott) Kain, 13 grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, and siblings, Francis, Sandy, Janet, Larry, Leona, and Randy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughters, Donna Brown and Anna Gourd, and brothers, George and Bill.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4th, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Warren Powers Cemetery.
