LaVeta Aguiniga, 74, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral service will be at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018. Burial will be at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery.
LaVeta was born October 27, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Walter and Katie (Gilliam) Carney. She enjoyed thrift shopping, Mexican dancing, gambling (especially playing the Lottery) and fishing, but above all she enjoyed time spent with her family.
LaVeta is survived by her children, Sandra (Edgar) Lambaren, Theresa Aguiniga, Vicky (Steve) Cross and John Aguiniga (Dawn); brother, Joe Carney; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; second husband, Pedro Demetrio Dominquez; and her fur baby, Vida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Katie and Walter Carney; first husband, Primitivo; siblings, Lenora, Wilda, Charlotte, Ronald, Jack, John, Robert and Bernard; grandsons, James, Steven and Taigen; and her fur baby, Tita.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of LaVeta.
