Joseph Livingston
December 24, 2017
Joseph Lee Livingston a.k.a. Marlon, an amazing son, brother, friend, and HANDS DOWN most awesome kid, passed on December 24, 2017 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was born on March 7, 2001 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Brad and Amber Livingston. Joseph grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa where he attended Franklin Elementary, Lenihan Intermediate School, Miller Middle School, and then BCLUW in Conrad, Iowa. Joseph was a Junior at Southeast Polk High School. He will be missed by so many of his friends and classmates.
Joseph had a love for the arts, from music to movies his taste was impeccable! As a young boy, Joseph loved Thomas the Tank Engine and Baby Einstein. That love evolved to Nintendo and the Super Mario Brothers, Star Wars, The Terminator and Quentin Tarantino movies. Joseph loved to draw, paint, write stories and listen to classic rock music. His favorite bands included Oasis, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, just to name a few. He put his love of music into his own talents and recently taught himself to play a right-handed guitar, despite being left-handed.
He is survived by his proud and loving parents, Brad Livingston and Amber (Craig) Hayes; siblings; Adam, Aaron, Maddie, Molly, Juliana, and Joshua Livingston; step-siblings, Palmer, Brant, and Karlee Hayes; grandparents, Jim and Mary Vollmer, Brenda and Mike Dowd; step -grandparents, Bud and Judy Hayes; and a host of extended family and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandpa Richard Frazee.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Altoona Cemetery.
Please direct memorial contributions to the family in loving memory of Joseph.

Dear Livingston Family,
I am so very sorry. Losing someone so young is heartbreaking. I know you are all hurting. I extend much love and support to you all but especially to Maddie. I was able to experience Josephs spark at Franklin for the two yearsI worked with him. I take comfort that his best friend who was there for him at all times in every moment and truly cared for him, Jared Mitchell, went on ahead of him. I suspect they are together now sharing their love of music. Peace and love to you all.

Livingston Family,
I wish to express my deepest sympathies. I hold a very special place in my heart heart for Joe. I was given the opportunity to have this wonderful young man bless my life and even when my students move on to higher grade levels, I know how lucky I was to have them as students. I am so sorry and please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
