David Mattson, 74, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017, at his home in Des Moines.
David was born January 2, 1943 to Robert and Doris (Marshall) Mattson in Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Every Saturday night he had a standing date with his daughter Michelle, to go to Prairie Meadows, another favorite past time of his.
David is survived by his daughters, Michelle and Miranda Mattson; grandchildren, Mallory Mattson, Monae Thomas, and Mhiyu Thomas Jr.; great-grandchild, Elayna Thomas; siblings his twin, Richard Mattson, Patricia (Jim) Titus and Roberta Kaplan; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew Mattson; and brother Larry Mattson.
There will be a celebration of life at the Lions Park Shelter, 72nd Street and Aurora Avenue in Urbandale, Iowa on Saturday January 6, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

David was the first person in the neighborhood to welcome us when we moved in 2 years ago. He would come over to pet our dog when he saw her on the porch. Our deepest condolences to the family. If there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to ask.
