Richard Allen, 62, passed away at his home Tuesday, December 19, 2017. He was born May 11, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Everyone who knew Richard knew how passionate he was of all animals, especially his 5 Huskies and 2 Dalmatians who he loved dearly. Richard enjoyed the outdoors, cutting firewood and appreciated unique plants. Some of his hobbies and interests included, building & remodeling, bowling and golfing. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and was known as the “prop dad for the dance studio”.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Peggy; children, Tracy (Danielle) Allen, Amanda Allen, Jessicia Allen, and Jennifer Channon; grandchildren, Gauge Allen and Olivia Allen; his 5 Huskies and 2 Dalmatians; brother, Larry (Lois) Allen; brother-in-law, Danny Miller; nephews, Lucas and Daniel Miller; and The Dance Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Arles and Elizabeth Allen; and sister, Sandra Miller.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 23, 2017, with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.
