Gerald J. Barnett, Sr.

Gerald “Barney” Barnett Sr. died from complications of C.O.P.D.Wednesday, April 23rd 2008 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, April 28th at Eagle Vision Church with burial at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Gerald retired from Roberts Dairy after 31 years of service. He was an auxiliary policeman with the Des Moines Police Dept. and a Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie; sons; Gerald Jr. and Rodney; daughter Tammy (Jerry) Green; grandchildren, William, Dustin and Jessica (Zach) Glenney; great grandchildren, Zachary and Heaven; sisters, Linda (Steve)Gibson, Sharon (Bob) Reinertson and Beverly; sister in law, Cindy Laurie and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alberta; brother, Richard; sister, Louise and his in laws Tom and Velma Gage.
Gerald loved fishing, bowling, mushroom hunting, watching his grandson Dustin play soccer, bragging about his family, coffee with Larry and Bob and special times with his sister Linda
Memorial contributions may be made to The Eagle Vision Church at SW 9th and Highway 5.
