Blanche M. Grimes

Blanche Melvina (Bohall) Grimes was born September 30, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of William Francis and Vivian (Brafford) Bohall. She married Alvie Michael Grimes. Blanche loved her family above all else and took great pride in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, and was a member of Faith Independent Assembly of God Church. Blanche was a volunteer firefighter and loved boating and fishing.
Blanche passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Judy (Dan) Fisher; sons, Richard (Lill), Jerry (Sue), and Jim (Lorene) Grimes; brothers, Burl Bohall and Ron (Victoria) Bohall; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends.
Blanche was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Alvie; daughter, Patricia Anderson; sons, Robert and Kenneth Grimes; granddaughter, Danielle Fisher Kent; parents, William and Vivian Bohall; and sister, Melinda Darrah.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 19, at Faith Independent Assembly of God, 6001 SW 14th Street, Des Moines, and will conclude with interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation.

I served Blanche at Fountain West and she was always respectful and appreciative of the service. She was a fighter and I will miss her deeply.
