Patricia Irene Karns

Patricia “Pat” Irene (Madden) Karns was born May 18, 1933, in Grant Township, Iowa, to Everett C. and Mary L. (Terry) Madden. Her family moved to Creston, IA when she was 9 years old. She attended Creston Elementary School and Junior High, and was a graduate of Creston High School. She married Ralph Elton Karns in 1953, and they moved to Dows, IA, then to Jefferson, IA, and in 1955, moved to Des Moines, IA. Ralph precedes her in death. She was employed in the Pension Department at Principal Financial for over 16 years, retiring in 1995. Pat took classes at Critchett Organ for several years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, music, attending the Iowa State Fair and going to Prairie Meadows.
Pat passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at her home in Des Moines, at the age of 84.
She is survived by her sons, Richard of Carlisle, Charles, Russell, Terry and Scott Karns of Des Moines; daughter, Linda (Neil) Frizzell of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several other extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Ralph, Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary Madden, and her son, Michael.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation or to Animal Rescue League.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Patricia's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family and friends during this difficult time. I only knew Patricia for a few years, but she always had a smile on her face and was always so kind to me. She was a dear sweet lady and will be missed.

I'm sorry for your lose and would like to express my condolences to your entire family. Our Lord Jesus provides comfort in John 5:25-29, "...the hour is coming when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God....and come out to a resurrection of life."
